Abstract:

To verify the effectiveness of the Sfumato Reading methodology as a method of reading instruction for dyslexic pupils. The efficacy of the methodology will be assessed using dependent variables divided into 2 categories: reading-related skills (fluency; error rate; comprehension) and non-reading variables (personality; sociometric status; family; age; sex; SpLDs' typology, aetiology, degree, comorbidity). The relationship between Sfumato and these variables will be compared with the effects of other independent variables (remedial tutorials conducted in the control group). The purpose of the remediation is to improve the reading/writing skills of a dyslexic pupil and, in a broader sense, help her/him to socialize successfully. The dependent variables will include personal characteristics.
