About
The primary task of the Department of Informatics is to prepare future computer science teachers for primary school, including primary school teachers who will teach computer science. We prepare computer science teachers for the 2nd level of primary school both in the traditional two-subject study (in combination with the teaching of another subject) and in the single-subject study of computer science teaching in combination with preparation for the position of “school IT assistant”.
In addition to the training of future IT teachers and IT experts in bachelor's studies, the staff of the Department of Informatics specializes in computer science didactics and the use of digital technologies in education. These are in particular:
- research of modern methods of teaching robotics and programming
- authorship of school textbooks and informatics methodologies for primary and secondary schools
- organizing a national competition of elementary school and high school in informatics Bobřík informatics
- development of research modules to examine the development of students' computer thinking and the way beginners learn to
- program popularization of informatics in schools
- management of websites to support teaching innovation imysleni.cz, ibobr.cz
In cooperation with other departments of the university, we are working to ensure that the ongoing doctoral studies in the field of ICT in education, which is accredited from 2008 to 2024, are replaced by doctoral studies of STEM subject didactics in which informatics has an unquestionable place.
The department runs lifelong learning courses for computer science teachers or primary school teachers to gain additional expertise in computer science teaching, as well as short-term “template” and online training preparing teachers to teach according to the new FEP in informatics.
