The Department of Music is the only university facility in the South Bohemia offering study programs focused on music teaching at primary schools, secondary schools and primary art schools.

Our graduates can also work in the sphere of leisure activities and in any institution or profession where there is an advantage of a broad overview of music (media, agencies, publishing, cultural departments of public administration,…).

The scientific activity of the teachers of the Department of Music focuses on music theory, music history and the theory of music education. Our students repeatedly receive awards at national interpretation competitions and, like the teachers of the department, they actively participate in the musical life, especially in the South Bohemian region. There are two choirs (women's choir and mixed choir) at the department.
