The tradition of the Department of Physical Education and Sport at the Faculty of Education of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice dates to the early 1950s. Today, it represents a significant and widely recognized institution focused on educating physical education specialists, with an almost seventy-year history, a wide range of accreditations, high performance in the field of specialized and selective physical education, and very good material resources. Its scientific research activities are based on two well-equipped laboratories allowing research in the field of functional load on the human body and human motor skills. For over 20 years, it has also been publishing its own scientific journal. The department also conducts significant training activities, accrediting facilities to grant qualifications for professional work in physical education and sports, both to JU students and to educational staff from schools and other interested individuals from the public.
