We are currently looking for Erasmus+ trainees from Pedagogy study field. This is a very unique offer, so we kindly ask you to share it with your students, I believe they would be interested.

The receiving institution: Klaipedos valstybine kolegija (LT KLAIPED09), which is a Higher Education Institution. However, students would do the practice in our partner institution “Forest School”, which is a very unique school in Klaipeda. This school implements modern education, and all activities are organized outside, in the forest.

Location: Klaipeda, Lithuania
Period: all year
Duration: from 2 to 12 months (longer is better)
Accommodation: student can stay in our dormitory, which price is 120 Eur/month.
Practice is unpaid.

Requirements:
The trainee must have effective communication skills, a good level of English (minimum B2), be responsible, study in Pre-school Pedagogy or Primary School Pedagogy field. Students should be able and willing to work with children, the student must responsibly assess whether the school's values and methods are acceptable to them. Priority is recent graduate students, however, other applications will be evaluated as well.

“Forest School” („Miško mokykla“) is one of the flag bearers of outdoor education in Lithuania. It is situated in the peaceful neighbourhood of Klaipeda, surrounded by forests and just a few minutes away from the seaside. This summer we will celebrate our tenth anniversary. First and foremost our school is a vibrant community, based on a lively and strong relationship between parents, children and teachers. We offer pre-school, pre-primary and primary education. For the moment we educate around 150 children (about 50 in primary, 80 in pre-primary and 20 in pre-school), there are about 20 teachers and their assistants working in the school.

Our education is based on the principles of outdoor pedagogy, we strongly focus on the emotional and physical well-being of children. Educational play, creativity and imagination training, exploring nature and relationships with it is an everyday routine here. We learn through experiential projects as well as follow a general education curriculum. Several years ago we started introducing the principles of contextual education in our teaching process - all educational activities are tied to a single chosen topic, lasting for a certain duration of time (from a week to a month).

Although we are an outdoor school we do have cupolas, heated with wood, to provide shelter for in-door activities and meals. Children take their afternoon nap in designated areas in the main administration building.

We kindly invite you for internships in kindergarten groups, pre-school groups and primary school (primary school is closed in summer as pupils are on holidays).
